National Football Foundation Inducts Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper into Leadership Hall of Fame

On January 5, 2015, Kenneth H. Cooper, MD, MPH, Founder and Chairman of Cooper Aerobics, was inducted into the National Football Foundation (NFF) Leadership Hall of Fame. This honor is reserved for the country’s “most influential individuals who have ascended to the highest levels of success” in leadership and business.

At the induction, Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper was presented with an official Leadership Hall of Fame ring, an American flag that had flown over the U.S. Capitol in his honor, and a special video message from President George W. Bush.

"I'm humbled to receive such an honor from the National Football Foundation," said Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper. "It is rewarding to be recognized for inspiring others to achieve their highest level of performance both on and off the field."

For 45 years, Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper has inspired millions to exercise for good health. It all began in 1968 when he coined the word "aerobics" with the release of his first best-seller, Aerobics. Since then, he has continued to impact national health with significant milestones like collaborating with PepsiCo to eliminate trans-fats from Frito-Lay products and advocating for Senate Bill 530, a policy that requires improved school physical education, physical activity, and annual fitness testing with FitnessGram® in the state of Texas.

His ground-breaking research and preventive medicine teachings have spanned the globe. “Our entire nation owes Dr. Cooper our deepest gratitude,” said NFF Chairman Archie Manning. “His teachings and insights have earned him the title as the ‘father of aerobics,’ and he has espoused a lifestyle that has benefited everybody from top athletes to senior citizens who are simply looking for ways to improve their quality of life. He clearly has defined himself as a leader who challenges the status quo, and has created a brighter future for the next generation.”
