How Do You Change The World’s Exercise Habits?

You are probably aware of the Cooper Aerobics Center, and The Cooper Institute that Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper founded. To many, his Center and Institute are considered a “fitness mission”.  But, did you know that there is an untold story of a group of “fitness missionaries” that he developed who, over the last 35 years, single-handedly changed the world's exercise habits?

The Cooper fitness missionaries provided more than 1500 fitness leader training courses worldwide, serving over 50,000 fitness leaders to apply The Cooper Institute’s exercise research, ultimately helping millions to be fit and healthy. These training courses were developed as the fitness programs for all five of our military services and hundreds of state and local police departments, including major federal agencies such as the FBI, DEA, and Secret Service.

These are just a few of the stories that are detailed in the book Changing the Worlds Exercise Habits: A History of Dr. Kenneth Cooper’s Fitness Missionaries. This unique history contains the fascinating reflections of Dr. Cooper’s staff telling of their personal experiences in the many projects and services they were involved in over their thirty-five years at The Cooper Institute. Their stories detail the process, challenges, and results of what happens when a diverse group of committed fitness and health professionals from different backgrounds and skills come together as a team to achieve success.

If you are interested in learning more about this uplifting and inspiring memoir, especially about how helping others to be physically active and fit, based on the Cooper Institute’s research, can translate to a variety of human benefits, You can order your copy of the book at Partial of the proceeds from the book will go to The Cooper Institute.
