CI-CPT Exam Frequently Asked Questions

The CI-CPT is given in Pearson VUE testing centers. There are two ways to register:
- You must be 18 years of age or older
- Current CPR certification (must have a hands-on training session)
- Cooper Institute 9 digit ID (if you have participated in CI education) – optional
1. Prepare
- Read the CI-CPT Candidate Handbook.
- Use the study resources table found in the CI-CPT Candidate Handbook.
- You will be asked to apply knowledge from multiple exam domains to a typical job situation.
- If needed, The Cooper Institute provides training in the knowledge, skills, and abilities for personal training.
2. Practice
- In addition to knowledge study, spend at least 10 hours in personal training role play with various types of clients.
- A practice test is also available here.
3. Pick a Date and Location for the CI-CPT Exam
- Based upon your experience and preparation, you will decide when you are ready to take the certification exam.

- Your exam results will be available at the end of your testing session.
