Abstracts Information

Abstract Guidelines:

  • Abstracts are solicited for poster presentations only.
  • The abstract MUST relate to the conference theme.
  • Abstracts can only be electronically submitted.
  • Abstracts must be submitted as an email attachment.
  • The deadline for submission is August 31, 2007.
  • The abstract is limited to 500 words.
  • There is NO limit on the number of abstracts an author may submit.
  • You will receive an email acknowledgement of the abstract submission.
  • You will later receive an email acknowledgement of acceptance or not.
  • Accepted abstracts will be published in the conference program and in the
    journal publication of conference papers.

Abstract Submission:

All abstracts are to be submitted to Melba Morrow at the following email address: mmorrow@cooperinst.org

In the cover email, identify the title of the abstract, the authors, email and mailing addresses, and telephone and fax numbers of corresponding author.

Abstract Structure:

Abstracts should be structured to contain the following content sections:

  • Title – (Capitalize major words; do NOT use all caps.)
  • Author
  • Affiliations

For RESEARCH Abstracts:

  • Background
  • Objectives
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusions

For PROGRAM Abstracts:

  • Background
  • Program Delivery / Policy Components
  • Evaluation
  • Conclusions

Conference Theme:

Diversity in Physical Activity and Health:Measurement and Research Issues and Challenges
Topics related to diversity, physical activity, and measurement / research methods are solicited and may include basic / applied research or policy / program development and evaluation.
We encourage abstracts focusing on projects and initiatives that address physical activity issues in relation to diversity and measurement issues and challenges.

Conference sessions include the following themes:

  • Measurement Issues in Childhood Obesity
  • Physical Activity and Health Disparities
  • Measurement Issues in Diversity Research
  • Physical Activity and Subpopulations
  • Dose-Response Issues in Diversity Research

Because of registration limitations, submission and acceptance of an abstract is NOT a guarantee that you will be able to register for the conference. YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO REGISTER EARLY to ensure your attendance.
