Conferences & Lectures

The Cooper Institute takes an active approach in providing access to the surrounding community of the latest scientific research in the fields of physical fitness and promoting healthy lifestyle practices.

Preventive Medicine and Wellness Lecture Series
The Cooper Institute started its Preventive Medicine Lecture Series as a means to better engage the surrounding community with highly-regarded scientists and health professionals. Speakers with the latest information in their field and guests have the opportunity to interact in a social atmosphere.

Proceeds from the Lecture Series provide needed funding for The Cooper Institute, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. This source of funding provides even greater opportunities for pilot studies for further research, increased participation by high-level scientists, e-learning programs, and dissemination of timely information locally, nationally, and internationally.

Most importantly, this series contributes to the Dallas community through The Cooper Institute's Oak Cliff Center where key research and educational initiatives have been directed towards underserved populations in our community.

If you would like to subscribe or have any questions about the previous 2008 Preventive Medicine and Wellness Lectures Series, please feel free to contact Amanda Moody at our Development Office at (972) 716-7087 or send email.

Scientific Conference
In 1997 The Cooper Institute began a series of conferences related to improving the public’s health. The series was intended to bring together an international group of experts to focus on a particular topic relating to physical activity. The conferences have led to highly referenced and influential journal publications and acclaim within both the academic and local community.

The 2007 Scientific Conference focused on "Diversity in Physical Activity and Health" and took place on October 18-20, 2007 on The Cooper Institute campus in Dallas, Texas. Please visit our Conferences page to see the presentations in PDF format.
