Doctoral Fellowship Program
The Cooper Institute’s Doctoral Fellowship Program was developed to create a professional venue for individuals academically trained in the area of health-related disciplines such as public health research and education, epidemiology, exercise physiology, and human performance to gain professional development opportunities under the guidance of seasoned mentors in the field. The Fellowship Program focuses on developing an individual’s skills in the areas of research and education, while also exposing its participants to our multitude of clinical trials, epidemiological studies and educational tools designed for public dissemination.
Compensation/Benefits:
Fellows employed with the Cooper Institute will be given compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications which is competitive with other Post Doctoral Fellows programs. Additionally, benefits for our Doctoral Fellows also include health, dental, life, and all other benefits awarded to full time staff. Additionally, our fellows will be eligible to receive an associate membership to our world renowned fitness center and discounts on other offering throughout our campus.

What are Grand Rounds?
In partnership with UT Southwestern, The Cooper Institute offers a monthly calendar of seminars and grand rounds for our Post Doctoral Fellows. Prominent scientistsand clinicians from around the country, UT Southwestern, and The Cooper Institute speak on a variety of topicsrelated to the Institute’s missions, goals and objectives. Currently, our post docs are able to attend the seminars and grand rounds in the following areas:
- Cardiology
- Geriatrics
- Cancer Center
- Pediatrics
- Effective Teacher Seminars
- Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
- Hypertension
- Internal Medicine (Hypertension/Prehypertension)
What Type of Mentoring Opportunities are Available?
Doctoral fellows will have the opportunity throughout their employment to mentor with our seasoned PhD’s, M.D.’s, senior scientists, and educators in order to develop the necessary skills to successfully bridge over to a career in research and education. Fellows will be assigned one primary mentor to guide them in their research projects and program goals.
What Annual Conferences May Fellows Attend?
Conferences listed below are generally held in the springtime and are the two main conferences that our doctoral fellows are encouraged to attend. The cost of attending the conferences will be covered by the Institute.
